Interested in moving to the East Village?

The Mayor has secured some of the new social rented homes in the East Village development in Stratford for social tenants from across London. Properties on the site, until recently the Olympic athletes' village, are being advertised on the Housing Moves until the end of July 2013. More information about moving to the East Village.

Interested in moving to another part of the capital?

The Mayor’s Housing Moves pan-London mobility scheme enables social tenants to move to other parts of London. More information about Housing Moves.

Additional opportunities - Do you want to move to sheltered / retirement housing outside London?

Seaside & Country Homes is a very popular scheme and not everyone who applies will be successful. Also, some people want to move to areas not covered by Seaside & Country Homes or are too young to qualify. So we also have a separate arrangement with some leading housing associations that provide social rented properties (mainly studios and one beds, but some two beds) outside London for older social tenants who want to leave the capital.

These differ from Seaside & Country Homes properties in the following ways:

Also, unlike Seaside & Country Homes, properties are available to people aged 55 and over (rather than 60 and over).

Here is what to do if you are interested in moving to one of these sheltered/retirement properties:

If you are already registered on Seaside & Country Homes Homes please contact the Mayor of London’s Housing Mobility Team by email on housingmobility@london.gov.uk, by phone on 08450 21 20 20, or in writing to Housing Mobility Team, 3rd Floor City Hall, The Queen’s Walk, London SE1 2AA

If you are not registered on Seaside & Country Homes please contact your landlord and ask them to pass your details on to us. Once we receive them, we'll give you a call.

We will put your name forward to the housing associations. You will then be on a waiting list and the housing associations will contact you direct if a suitable property becomes available. If you are eligible for Seaside & Country Homes and are registered, you will still continue to be considered for that scheme too.
